Publish date: 2024-08-10

One cannot talk about N.T.Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, or Sivaji Ganesan without mentioning the iconic Savitri. She was born in the Guntur district and was a part of stage productions as a child actress. There was much more in her life than just cinema that is worth mentioning. She was an all-rounder, a race car-driver, producer, actor, and singer.

During her short life-span, she managed to touch the hearts of Telugu and Tamil audiences. She has managed to build an empire of fame for herself, not just for her acting capabilities but also for her nature of helping people and the way she has led her life.

Savitri’s acting capabilities were top-notch in a generation where glycerin wasn’t even used. She was natural and there are no two ways of saying it. She is best known for her performance in the movies, Devadas, Missamma, Kalathur Kannamma, Pasalmar, Karpagum, and Thiruvilayadal.

The actress managed to capture people’s hearts, as many journalists and stars came forward to talk about her during the release of Mahanati, a biopic made on Savatri. The actress was married to Sivaji Ganesan with whom she had a daughter and son.

Kamal Haasan, a star hugely respected for his acting capabilities has also commented on the goodness of her heart. Kamal respects her the most and says Savitri amma was his mother in the film industry. The actress is hugely described as someone that deserves to be remembered for the history she has made in Tollywood.

In the later part of her life, she was in huge debt because of her generosity but has never once taken help from others. People close and near to her were tremendously concerned about her and tried helping her out. She never gave up on self-respect.

Irrespective of the ups and downs she faced in the industry, she is an iconic actress and an even generous person. The life of this legend is more than just an impactful story that can just be told. She has led her life with dignity and compassion which is a huge takeaway for all of us.

The great actress lived less than five tens of years, but her splendor and glory remain intact till today and for more generations to come. All of which was beautifully portrayed in the biopic, Mahanati, a great tribute by Vyjayanthi Movies to the Screen Goddess. Director Nag Ashwin wonderfully brought her life on to the screen with the movie.
