Bonneville County Sheriff's Deputies arrested two wanted men after a police chase in the Idaho Falls area Friday.

Police say Augustus W. Gokey, 24, of Bonneville County, and Kasey C. Wornek, 33, of Idaho Falls, were driving in a pickup when police saw them on Wright Rd just north of Idaho Falls Friday afternoon.

Gokey was wanted for an outstanding felony warrant related to previous drug charges. Police say earlier that day, Gokey fled from deputies on three different occasions.

Police say they made contact with Gokey's father in an attempt to have him call and turn himself in but Gokey indicated to his dad he was in possession of Methamphetamine and possibly a gun and was not going back to jail.

When Gokey's truck was located on Wright Rd. the deputy pulled to the front of the pickup and pinned it against the fence to prevent him from fleeing. Police say Gokey then backed up the pickup and sped toward the driver area of the patrol car, ramming the front end near where the Deputy had been standing.

Gokey then drove away toward Iona Rd and police followed him. Deputies say at one point Gokey ran a stop sign, and almost hit another patrol car.

A deputy deployed spike strips near the intersection of Iona Rd. and Ammon Rd. which disabled the passenger side tires of the pickup.

Gokey continued to flee reaching speeds of more than 70 mph with deflating tires that were breaking apart.

As he continued to flee on Bone Rd. he tried to turn but ended up losing control of the pickup and overturning it.

Gokey finally surrendered to deputies who treated him for his injuries. They identified Kasey Wornek as Gokey's passenger and worked to stabilize him until he could be safely removed from the pickup.

During this time a small fire started in the front and rear of the pickup that deputies were able to keep contained until fire personnel arrived and made it safe to remove Wornek from the truck.

Police found just over two grams of Marijuana inside the truck before it was towed from the scene.

Gokey and Wornek were taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment but later released and transported to the Bonneville County Jail Saturday.

As Gokey was being placed in the patrol car, police discovered he had a small canister containing just over two grams of Methamphetamine.

Gokey was booked on the outstanding Felony Warrant along with new Felony charges for Possession of Methamphetamine, Aggravated Battery, and Eluding.

Police say Gokey was also booked for Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Resisting Arrest with further potential charges relating to Driving Under the Influence and the three previous Eluding events from the day before.

Wornek was also taken to the jail and booked on Felony and Misdemeanor Warrants out of Bonneville County, in addition to an outstanding warrant from a neighboring jurisdiction.
